Tasseomancy - Diana

“Tasseomancy is a continuation of what was a bare bones neo-gothic folk duo. Formerly known as Ghost Bees, Sari and Romy Lightman have begun to experiment with heavier, ambient sounds, influenced by death ritual, hebraic song, war drums, ancestry and myth. The sisters recorded their second full-length this winter with producer Taylor Kirk and accompanying band, Timber Timbre. It will be released sometime before the next thaw.” via www.myspace.com/ghostbees

They are Canadian twin sisters, and their voices just complement each other to the perfection. It sounds very fragile and it’s just beautiful. It somehow reminds me Cocorosie.

Timber Timbre - Demon Host

Another discovery this week, Timber Timbre. Deep, almost spooky and beautiful folk music.

Patrick Watson - Fireweed

Feel like listening to a bit of Patrick Watson today. I didn’t want to post the well known but beautiful “Great Escape” (you can watch a great live here), so here we go with Fireweed.

Hey Rosetta! - Red Song

I really enjoy their music layered with soft voices, piano, violin, guitar and cello. I also especially love their very beautiful website: http://www.heyrosetta.com.

(This band was recommended to me by Jason from the great blog Indie Art & Music.)

Laura Barrett - The Wood Between Worlds

“Something about her plaintive voice and speculative lyrics, combined with the crisp, metallic sounds of the kalimba, struck people’s fancy.” (source)

It’s not usually the kind of music I listen to all day long, but it’s true, there is something  really appealing here. Her voice? the kalimba?
