this is the story about how i came to meet Tim Buckley and get to love Arborea’s music.
(it’s short, don’t worry!):
i listened to this song (don’t remember where, either on FolkRadio or StereoMood), fell in love, googled it up, bought the Arborea’s CD. Got also all the Tim Buckley discography and listened obsessively to everything for days. that’s it!
(yeah i know, synthesis is one of my many gifts! :P )
show them the love:
» their facebook page (go, like, and spread the word! just 1313 fans! how can it be?)
» their myspace
» beautiful article + exclusive live video session on FolkRadio
Unknown to me till she made that duet with Björk, which I’m very fond of (both, the duet and Björk). Not to be mistaken for her fellow-countryman Ólafur Arnalds (a relative?). I think of her as the Icelandic Johanna Newsom, for her way of singing, mostly.
I’m just starting to discover her music, and loving it.

“Something about her plaintive voice and speculative lyrics, combined with the crisp, metallic sounds of the kalimba, struck people’s fancy.” (source)
It’s not usually the kind of music I listen to all day long, but it’s true, there is something really appealing here. Her voice? the kalimba?

A folk singer, a soft voice, a little melancholy. I don’t need anything else.
